About us
Liden & Denz was founded in St. Petersburg in 1992 with the aim of providing first class Russian courses in a well structured setting. The task was not easy: Russia was about to change beyond recognition and nobody really quite knew, in which direction these changes were pointing.
Fifteen years after our first students had received their certificates, our ever increasing student numbers are proof that learning Russian is considered a valuable asset today , apart from the fact that it is great fun.
We believe you should choose to learn Russian at one of our centres for the following reasons:
"With 15 years experience of teaching Russian to students from over thirty countries with differing needs and backgrounds, our partners and students know why they trust us: what finally counts is the results!"
Walter Denz

Our language school in St.Petersburg is situated in the historical city centre, close to the well-known Nevsky Prospekt and about 300 metres away from the nearest metro station (Ligovsky Prospect) in a central yet quiet neighbourhood. The school occupies the top floor (4th floor, no elevator) of a 19th century building. We operate 15 classrooms (11 suitable for groups, 4 - for mini-groups or individuals) all year round. All our bigger classrooms are equipped with LCD TV and DVD sets.
Facilities also include a self-access centre (library, DVDs, CD-ROM course material etc.), a cafeteria offering cold and hot food, internet workstations (free or charge) and a wireless zone for notebook users (free of charge) . The school further operates a booking desk for excursions, theatre tickets and onward travel.
The St.Petersburg centre is run by Yana Alyoshina (born 1975), who has a degree in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language from St.Petersburg State University and received her MBA at the St.Petersburg branch of Lovanium University in Belgium. She has been with the school since 2003.
"Our aim is to harmonize the academic traditions together with the present-day innovation teaching methods in order to make the learning process not only interesting and vivid but also thorough and structured."

The Liden & Denz Language Centre Moscow is located in the central part of the city, a short walk from the Belorusskaya Railway Station, a terminus for trains from Berlin and Warsaw. Our premises are on the ground floor of a building that belongs to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Most of the office space is used by foreign diplomats and accredited correspondents of the international press. The closest metro station (Belorusskaya) can be reached on foot in less than five minutes.
Our school features ten classrooms and is equipped with the latest technology (several workstations with wireless Internet for our students, LCD TV and DVD sets in most classrooms). At school we offer coffee and tea free of charge. Moderately priced places for lunch can be found around the corner from the school.
