This newly opened hotel (July 2005) certainly offers one of the best locations in the very heart of St. Petersburg, on the bank of the Moika River and right opposite the Hermitage and Dvortsovaya square. The original façade of the hotel’s building was designed by Dutch engineer Basil von Witte in the middle of the 19th century. It has been faithfully retained while the building has been entirely reconstructed. The hotel is just two minutes’ walk from Nevsky Prospect, close to all major sites and shopping centres. There are 188 rooms and suites. The ground floor bar overlooks the Hermitage and the restaurant on the roof terrace gives spectacular views over the city centre and the nearby Cathedral of the Savior-on-the-Blood. The hotel features two interior glass-covered courtyards and a fitness centre is planned on the second roof terrace. It was completely reconstructed in 2004 and now offers fine three-star accommodation. Close to the St. Petersburg TV centre, the Andersen Hotel very soon became popular not only among the TV people, but as also among the actors and musicians coming to St. Petersburg on tour. The hotel is close to Kamenny Ostrov (Stone Island), a huge park where Russian nobilities had their dachas during Tsarist times. The hotel features 140 rooms including several suites. Although it is not located in the very core of the city, it is still quite close to the historical centre which is easily accessible. Its proximity to Liden & Denz Language centre makes it a nice option for our students. The hotel features 33 rooms. On the ground floor there is a small nice restaurant & bar, reception and beauty shop. Every room has private facilities, hairdryer, TV, telephone, free access to the Internet. Safe cells are available at the reception. The hotel also has parking space and round-the-clock security. There are 4 floors but no elevator.

Although the hotels are situated in historical buildings, they are completely renovated inside. All of the four hotels offer a good location and service for reasonable prices and are becoming more and more popular every year. Their latest opening is Nevsky 22 Deluxe hotel. Hotels on Nevsky have 6 to 36 rooms, all newly designed and equipped, with private facilities, shower, satellite TV, direct dial phone, safe and air-conditioning in most of the rooms. Some hotels have Internet broadband cable in the rooms. In all four hotels Internet is available at reception. All hotels come with a kitchen-café where continental breakfast is served. This is another chain of B&B mini-hotels offering 10 hotels in the city. Differing from the Hotels on Nevsky chain, Rinaldi does not only offer accommodation in the very centre of the city, which might be convenient for people coming on business. The kitchen-café can be used not only for the continental breakfasts offered in the mornings, but guests can always make some food themselves or have meetings there. At the moment there are Rinaldi hotels on Petrogradskaya storona, Vassilievsky Ostrov, Admiralteisky Rayon and on Nevsky prospect as well as others nearby. The hotels are divided into 3 categories: Home, Optimum and Premium, and prices slightly differ, but all are quite reasonable for the service offered. All rooms at the Rinaldi Hotels are of the similar standard and design and equipped with everything necessary for the modern traveller. Scene of the city’s foundation in 1703, the museum complex inside the fortress includes the Cathedral of SS Peter & Paul, where the tombs of tsars and princes are found. Built to fend off attacks by the Swedes, the Peter & Paul Fortress was never required to test its original purpose. Instead, it quickly became the most famous political prison of Tsarist Russia. If the Hermitage is a Mecca for lovers of western European and international art, the Russian Museum is the equivalent for admirers of Russian art. Together with the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Russian Museum houses one of the best collections of Russian art. The exhibits range from medieval icon paintings to works by St. Petersburg’s leading contemporary artists. Among the countless masterpieces are paintings by Repin, Malevitch and the Russian avant-garde. The main collection is found in the impressive former palace of Grand Duke Mikhail on the charming Arts Square.

St. Petersburg’s largest church, covering more than a hectare and standing over 100 metres tall. It is hard to do justice to the sheer grandeur and splendour of the interior of this magnificent monument, which boasts the best view of the city from the colonnade under its golden dome. Unlike many churches and cathedrals, St. Isaac’s Cathedral survived the Communist era relatively unscathed. The interior consists of a collection of magnificent paintings, mosaics and murals, lit by ostentatious chandeliers, each weighing three tons.

Fountains, pavilions, baroque extravagance and hordes of tourists: the "Russian Versailles" is the most visited of the former residences of the tsars and very overcrowded in summer. But if you must see for yourself the 140 fountains and this ultimate example of tsarist opulence, simply plan for the long queues. Peter the Great had this summer residence built 30 kilometres from St. Petersburg. The current grandeur of the palace situated on the banks of the Gulf of Finland dates from the reign of two tsarinas: Elizabeth I and Catherine II, who extended it and made it the centre of court life. Its highlight is the marvellous cascade and water-spouting golden sculptures – the largest fountain in the world. The surrounding park is more obviously designed than the other tsarist residences. The view onto the Gulf of Finland is unique.

The “Great Northern War" with Sweden was far from over when Tsar Peter I ordered the building of pleasure palaces around his new capital city. Work began then on the tsar’s residence in what is now the pretty town of Pushkin, named after the famous poet who attended school there. Peter’s successor Catherine the Great chose this as her principal residence. Italian court architect Rastrelli fashioned a palace according to Catherine’s wishes, surrounded by an extensive park with pavilions, chapels, baths and summerhouses. The Catherine Palace is most famous for its legendary Amber Room, a gift of the King of Prussia to Peter the Great in 1717. During Second World War, the original disappeared without trace and has never been found. The gigantic amber casket was reproduced for the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg and can now be seen again. VIP tour also includes a special welcome in the Catherine’s Palace and a visit to some of the rooms closed to the others.

Pavlovsk is one of the more modest tsarist residences. But the park is exceptionally beautiful and a popular excursion for city dwellers who, depending on the season, come here to stroll, pick mushrooms, skate or ski. You will find no amber room or spectacular fountains, just a simple paradise for lovers on a warm summer’s evening and for snow-seeking children on cold winter days. Catherine II gave her son Paul I the area on the banks of the Slavyanka only four kilometres from Tsarskoe Selo. Modelling the design on English gardens, the architects Charles Cameron (1782-86) and Pietro Gonganza (1803-1828) created a seemingly unspoilt natural landscape stretching over 600 hectares. It remains the biggest landscaped natural park in Europe, with woodland, hills, small lakes and bubbling streams. Dotted about are pavilions, colonnades and small temples. The main palace stands on a hill and is designed in a horseshoe in the classical style. Its relatively modest interior provides a contrast with the other palaces of the tsars.

Survival Russian consists of 2 joint lessons (each lesson is 50 minutes) with a 10 minutes break. The course is designed for travellers who wish to get some minimal knowledge of Russian in order to help them getting around (i.e. alphabet, main phrases etc). No Russian knowledge is required. Lessons are held by professional teachers of the Liden & Denz Language Centres in a relaxed atmosphere, either in one of our schools or the hotel.

RESERVATIONS AND INFORMATION

Your request will be answered within 24 hours upon its receipt (excluding days off and Russian national holidays). A booking confirmation and an invoice will be sent as soon as a definite reservation is made. In case of a group reservation, an agreement with Liden & Denz Russia Inbound Services (further Liden & Denz) must be signed before any confirmation will be sent.
TERMS OF PAYMENT
If not agreed otherwise, full payment must be made prior to the client's arrival. The payment due day will be indicated in the booking confirmation and in the invoice. For group reservations special conditions or deposit may be applied at time of reservation. All special conditions will be indicated after a group request was received by Liden & Denz. Payment can be made by bank or cash in Euro or in Russian Roubles. In case of untimely or incomplete payment, Liden & Denz reserves the right to cancel any confirmed reservation.
CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS
Should you need to change or cancel your confirmed reservations, please notify us in writing immediately (by fax or by e-mail). At the time we receive a written notification of cancellation of your reservation, cancellation fees will apply according to the cancellation policy indicated in our booking confirmation. Cancellations of air and train reservations are subject to the rules and regulations of the respective air carrier company and railroad. Liden & Denz will confirm in writing all changes or cancellations.
VISA SUPPORT
Visa support for the Russian Federation is free if a hotel reservation is made via Liden & Denz. Express mail costs may apply if a client needs an original visa support letter within a short time. To issue the visa support letter, the following data must be provided: client's full name, passport number and expiry date, citizenship, date of birth, travel dates and destinations. Except when else noted, visa registration fees are not included in the prices above and are subject to change by the Federal Law.
