Standard Group Russian Language Lessons

The Standard Group Course provides quality Russian instruction in a relaxed but focused group setting. Through communication with both Liden & Denz teachers and their classmates, students develop the Russian language skills they need for a number of everyday situations.

Our schools work on rolling enrolment, with new students being tested and placed in the group appropriate to their level. The content of the syllabus leaves space for weekly revision and consolidation and the course itself is built in cycles, building up more advanced vocabulary and introducing more complex grammar at each new level.

Students at the beginner level are advised to familiarise themselves with the Cyrillic alphabet prior to the start of the course, and should note that courses for beginners only start on specific dates.

Intensive Group Russian Courses in Moscow

This course combines standard group lessons with a series of smaller ‘mini-group’ sessions, allowing students to study Russian in a more focused, yet still interactive and engaging learning environment. Mini-group schedules are established at the start of the course, and the topics covered vary depending on the course level.

A1 – Beginner Level Sessions
These sessions will focus on ‘survival Russian’ tutorials that get students acquainted with the fundamental necessities of the Russian language. This includes outdoor classes covering shopping, eating out, purchasing tickets, and becoming more “streetwise.” Students will also practice telephone training, including tasks like making a restaurant reservation, booking flights, etc.
A1+, A2 – Elementary Level Sessions
Sessions at these levels will include lectures on the Russian perspective and traditions. Students will apply this lens to a variety of subjects including Russian cuisine, history, and more.
B1 – Intermediate, B2 – Upper Intermediate Level Sessions
For more advanced students, mini group sessions will focus on helping them understand important pillars of Russian politics and society. Sessions will emphasise business and the economy, and also explore topics such as Russian media, politics, culture, and history.

Take Additional Modules When You Learn Russian in Moscow

Liden & Denz Moscow also offers a wide range of extra modules that students can add to their Russian Language studies course selection to gain a deeper understanding of Russian culture and society.

Mini Group Modules

Students enrolled in any courses may add mini group modules to include a more conversational element to their Russian language lessons. Comprising five or fewer students, these classes are generally held on two non-consecutive afternoons, with two lessons on one day and three on the other.

Language Plus modules present the unique opportunity for students to supplement their Russian language courses with classes in more specific areas of interest. These modules can be booked in addition to any course, and minimum proficiency levels are specified below.

Business Russian
Minimum level to enrol – A2
As the name suggests, the Business Russian module is ideal for professional students who need to improve their Russian for work purposes, or for anyone else who wants to become more familiar with professional vocabulary and dialogue. Skills covered range from basic tasks and situations like phone calls, making appointments, engaging with clients, or running a meeting, to more advanced scenarios such as negotiations and presentations.
Russian Music
Minimum level to enrol : A2
For a more artistic supplement to your Russian lessons, the Russian Music module may be particularly engaging. Students will study the history of Russian music as well as musical, poetic, and slang vocabulary. This course also gives students the opportunity to listen to popular Russian music from the 20th century ranging from folk songs, to ballads, to rock and pop, helping them learn experientially about Russia and Russian culture.
Russian Literature
Minimum level to enrol : B2
This module allows students to explore Russia through literature. Students will engage with influential authors like Pelevin, Dostoevsky, and Tolstoy in order to expand their vocabulary, learn more about classical and modern literature, and gain a more nuanced understanding of Russian perspectives.

Compulsory Exam Preparation Module TRKI

This module is compulsory for any student who chooses to take a TRKI language test while studying at Liden & Denz Moscow. Classes are scheduled on the same week as their TRKI exam, and allow students to become familiar with the structure and demands of the test and ensure they are fully prepared to achieve the best possible result.

One-to-One Modules Bring More to Your Russian Language Training

Students enrolled in Individual or Group courses can book additional One-to-One modules should they want to focus on a particular area of study. This option is ideal for those who are struggling with certain areas, want to make quicker progress, or are interested in exploring a particular area of study in more depth.
