The northern capital of Russia, St. Petersburg, has a lot of sights and conventional activities on offer, such as visiting the Hermitage or a day trip to Peterhof. But what can you do here when it’s raining, snowing and stormy outside (which it quite often is)? And what about the slightly unusual sights, just waiting to be discovered? Well, have a read of the upcoming blog and you’ll discover a whole range of interesting activities.
1. Sports: The heat is on!
Saint Petersburg is home to two very well-known sports clubs: Zenit and SKA. Zenit is the name of Saint Petersburg’s football team and is famous around the world. Their Zenit Arena is located by the sea, near ‘Primorski Park’. The nearest metro station is ‘Krestovskiy Ostrov’ and from there it is just a short walk through the park. SKA is a hockey club, also very famous in Russia. Hockey is, in fact, one of this country’s most popular sports. You can watch them play in the ‘WinterPalace’, located in the east of the city. Again, you can go by metro, this time to ‘Osu Accra’ and you’ll see the stadium right in front of you.
2. Trampoline: Jump around
As I already mentioned, your plans will often depend on the weather, but there is no need to stay at home! Visiting a trampoline park is always a good idea for an indoor activity – ‘Razgon’ and ‘Number 1’ are both located south-west of the city. It takes about 30 minutes by car from the city centre but you can always take the metro to ‘Leninskiy Prospekt’ and from there it’s a 10-minute walk.
3. Go-cart: For the fast one
This recommendation will certainly appeal to your inner sense of fun. The city has a go-carting centre near ‘Park Pobedi’ metro station. You can pick between various types of go-carts, all differing in handling and speed. The track is about 250 metres long and there are lots of tight bends and chances to overtake your opponents!
4.Museum: For the brave
If you’re a fan of scary movies or magical stories, you may have just come to the right place. ‘Secrets of Petersburg’ is an unordinary museum right in the heart of Saint Petersburg, on Nevsky Prospekt. The building houses 10 rooms and each tells a different story. They’re packed with extraordinary designs, living characters and various lightshows. Trust me, it’s worth a visit!

5. Indoor rope park: Tarzan is in you
If you want to do something that’s a bit sporty and a lot of fun, try visiting the indoor rope parks in SPB. It’s just as enjoyable for children as it is for adults. These parks are all located in the centre of the city so you don’t you have to walk through the awful weather. Pack your sports clothes and swing over!
If you are staying in St. Petersburg for longer than a week, I would suggest trying all these activities. You can only begin to imagine the fun you’ll have trying something a little different.
